June 19, 2018 – (Greeley, CO) – Gather your friends and colleagues and support Bike to Work Day (BTWD)! The City of Greeley will be hosting their Bike to Work Day on Wednesday, June 27 this year with stations at local businesses in the morning to serve breakfast on your way to work. May 30, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – The City of Greeley’s Youth Enrichment Program at both the Rodarte Community Center and Anna Gimmestad sites partnered with area schools this year to boost student academic achievement. Areas of focus were literacy, math, attendance and improving behavior. Youth Enrichment partnered with Billie Martinez, New Hope Academy, Chappelow, Ann K. Heiman and Dos Rios Elementary schools in Weld County School District 6 and collaborated to offer an After School Program where students can get help with homework and enjoy extracurricular activities. The goal was to not only assist with the improvement of overall test scores throughout the school year, but to also help reduce summer learning loss through camouflage learning and activities during out of school time. May 25, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – The fish are biting, so you won’t want to miss the City of Greeley’s Culture, Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Fishing Derby, sponsored in part by Envirotech. This year’s event will be held Saturday, June 2 from 8am-12pm at Sanborn Park, located at 28th Avenue and 20th Street in Greeley. Fishing licenses are not required as this day begins the state’s Free Fishing Weekend. Read more.
May 21, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – Traditionally, summer starts over the Memorial Day weekend and this year is no exception as we gear up for tons of fun! Greely Recreation will be opening Centennial Pool, Discovery Bay Waterpark and Island Grove Splash Park on Monday, May 28. The Greeley Recreation Center, Family FunPlex and Greeley Ice Haus will be open for swimming, ice skating and rock climbing. Come out and play with us! May 14, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – Hard Knocks Boxing Club at Rodarte Community Center sent two local boxers to the Colorado State Golden Gloves competition last month. Both Josiah Herrera and Christian Hernandez attended representing Hard Knocks. The state boxing tournament was held at the Imperium Event Center in Northglenn April 9-13. Read more.
May 3, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – The Greeley Senior Activity Center will soon have a new sign above the building. The center has undergone a name change to the Greeley Active Adult Center, which will include a new marquee in August, as well as new Adaptive Inclusive Programs, but will remain as a social hub for those individuals 50 years or older. April 9, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – Three boxers that train at the Rodarte Community Center’s Hard Knocks Boxing Club defeated their opponents in their bouts at the House of Pain East Boxing Show on March 24th in Denver. All three boxers took home Champion Belts in their age groups. Results were impressive and these three boxers will be competing in the Colorado State Golden Gloves Tournament in Northglenn April 9-15. Read more.
March 9, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – Andrez Velasquez, an 8 year old boxer from the Rodarte Community Center’s Hard Knocks Boxing Club, has only been boxing for roughly 8 months. Velasquez has seen only one opponent thus far in his boxing career, yet found himself competing in the prestigious National Silver Gloves Tournament in February. Read more.
February 8, 2018 (Greeley, CO) – This year’s Denver Nuggets Skills Challenge hosted 84 participants in Greeley at both the Family FunPlex and Greeley Recreation Center on Saturday, January 20. Area youth competed in three different skill challenges: dribbling, passing and shooting. First place winners from each age group will advance to Sectionals, which will be held at Windsor Community Recreation Center on Sunday, February 18 at 1pm. Read more.
