From left to right: Kassi Decuir, Aaron Shaffer, Chris Green and Whitney Dyer

Whitney Dyer is our new Sports and Programs supervisor for the City of Greeley Recreation. For the past seven years, she has worked for the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) as assistant director of the Outdoor Pursuits program. While working full-time for UNC, Whitney had the opportunity to complete her master’s degree in sports administration. Before moving to Greeley, she completed her undergraduate studies at Middle Tennessee State University, where she played for the Women’s collegiate soccer team for four years. Having young kids of her own, Whitney is invested personally and passionately in the enrichment and positive development of our community’s youth.

Aaron Shaffer comes to the city with years of recreation experience in the campus setting. Working at Marshall University and the University of Northern Colorado, Aaron comes from a background in facilitates and operations. Aaron received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Marshall University, studying criminal justice and sports administration. Like many others, sports were a large part of Aaron’s life growing up. He’s extremely excited about the sports coordinator position and the opportunity to combine his love of sports and provide great programming for the entire City of Greeley.  When Aaron is not organizing programs, he enjoys skiing, mountain biking, and spending time with his dog, Kooper.

Chris Green worked as the Nelson Physical Activities Center coordinator at Chadron State College for 5 years prior to moving to his previous role of Associate Athletic Director in August 2016. Managing the NPAC, he oversaw the entire campus rec program, including intramural sports, facility & event management, as well as starting a group fitness program from the ground up. During his time as associate athletic director, he was the main contact for NCAA compliance for his entire department of coaches, student-athletes, and prospective student-athletes. Chris graduated from Chadron State College in May 2009 with his Bachelor’s in Recreation. He then went to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) and graduated with his Master’s in Sports Administration in May 2011. Chris found his passion for recreation while working at the Campus Recreation Center at UNC.  Chris is most excited that this position allows him to get back into a field he initially worked in and has a true passion for. Chris is extremely excited to move back to Greeley and serve the community that gave so much to him.

Kassi Decuir is the new Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) coordinator. She grew up in Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa. Go Cats! She moved to Colorado in 2019 and jumped into the world of community adaptive recreation. Kassi worked for the City of Fort Collins’ ARO team, running and facilitating programs for people with disabilities. She is excited to be in Greeley and ready to get AIR programs off the ground!

We’re excited to have these exceptional staff on board. And we’re proud to offer residents an opportunity to stay active with some recreational sports leagues this fall. We know how important it is to offer developmental programs for our youth as well as an opportunity for adults to stay in shape and spend time with family and friends. We hope to see you out on the fields this fall.

Go on and play! Skills that play out for life!
