Greeley Recreation fall sports are in full swing, which means it’s time to prepare for winter session sports.

“We’ll be offering more options for youth and adults beginning in October,” stated Whitney Dyer, sports and programs supervisor. “Registration begins Monday, September 13, for youth and adult volleyball, Lil’ Nuggets basketball, and adult inline hockey. You’ll want to sign up early so you don’t miss the October 1 deadline.”

Most winter session sports begin in October and end in December, before the holidays. Another round of winter sports will begin in January 2022. Staff is also looking to offer another session of adult volleyball, inline hockey, and the Junior Nuggets youth basketball program (ages 7-11). Be on the lookout for those registration dates to be announced later this fall.

“This is a great opportunity to teach life-long healthy habits on and off the field,” said Dyer. “Playing in sports is enriching for all participants. It’s especially important to stay active as the seasons change, and we head into winter. And playing team sports is a wonderful way to stay connected to peers.”

Be a Volunteer – Volunteer coaches are needed for the youth volleyball program. Adults that are interested in helping will receive a free youth sports registration for their time. “This is a great opportunity for residents to give back to their community and mentor young athletes,” said youth sports coordinator Aaron Schaffer.

Assistance Available – Financial assistance is available for Greeley residents that qualify for School District 6 free and reduced lunch program. Find out more about the Youth Assistance Fund and how to apply online. Scholarships are available for up to $150 per child annually.

Be sure to provide an email when you register and opt-in to receive text messages. This is best for the Sports Team staff to contact you about game schedules, weather delays, and team photos. You can find more details at TeamSideline.com/Greeley.

Register starting September 13 for your favorite youth and/or adult sport. Go on and Play…Skills that play out for life!
