The Greeley Recreation Center has a rock wall, programs include open climbs and classes for all levels.
The Rock Climbing Wall is open during facility hours for bouldering and climbing. Top rope and lead climbing available (must be certified to belay). Certifications are good for one year. The climbing wall will close 15 minutes prior to any scheduled class to allow for staff set-up and preparation.
Newcomers get an opportunity to learn proper top-rope belay techniques, harness and ATC/Carabineer component uses, commands, knot building and more. After completing this session, climbers must wait 24 hours to take the Top-Rope Test. Age 14+. Min-4, Max-8.
This parent-tot class introduces your 3-5 year-old to rock climbing. Our littlest climbers and their parent or guardian will participate in educational games, activities and climbing. Motor skills and listening are developed.
Friday Night Youth Climbing Club
Enjoy a Friday evening climb with one of our energetic staff. Improve your maneuvering on the wall or introduce new climbers. Certification is not provided in this class.
Class Levels & Descriptions
Classes accommodate two climbing levels. Students must be proficient in Beginner Level before moving on to Intermediate or Advanced Level.
Ages 5-16. Min-4, Max-10.

For first time climbers, focus on getting comfortable on the wall. Introduction to tying figure eight knots and learn how to put a harness on. Climbers will be able to participate in a variety of group activities and games. Once successfully passing the beginner class, climbers have the option to move up to the intermediate class.
Climbers focus more on technique and safety. Learn to climb different and more challenging routes and perfect their figure eight knot tying, as well as be introduced to Top Rope belaying. Group activities and games will focus more on problem solving and climbing technique. Once successfully passing the intermediate class, climbers have the option to move up to the advanced class.
Climbers learn to be more self-sufficient. Recognize potential safety issues with themselves and other climbers and how to correct them. Students will participate in a variety of group and solo activities, including Top Rope belay, bouldering challenges, route setting and mock lead climbing. Students who successfully pass the advanced class have the option to take our Top Rope belay certification test if they meet age requirements.

Rock Wall Open Climbing
All climbers are invited to join a staff member for an evening of climbing. Join fellow climbers and be challenged by each other, or just get acquainted with other climbers in the area. This is a good time to get your certification. Age 5+.

Lunch Time Fun Climb
All levels of climbers welcomed! Wednesday “hump” day lunch climbs. A rock wall staff member will be present. Introduce yourself to climbing or challenge your current skills, either one makes for a great lunch time fun workout.
