First Day Tips for Hockey
New to our Youth Hockey Program? Here are some pointers to get you started:
While we do accept registrations on the first day of class, we ask that participants register prior to the beginning of the session. You can register in person at any of our recreation facilities, online at MyGreeleyRec.com or over the phone at 970-350-9402.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your class time.
On the first day of class, please check in at the front desk so we can ensure that you are enrolled in the correct class and have everything you need to get out on the ice on time.
Skate rental is included in your registration fee and the front desk staff will assist you with getting the right pair of skates. You are welcome to use your own skates as well.
We recommend the use of helmets during class and have them at the front desk for you to borrow. You can also bring your own helmet from home if you would like.
Our Cub and Rec Hockey programs offer complete equipment rental for just $85, which is refunded when the equipment is returned. We ask that appointments be made to get fitted for the equipment in advance of the first class. Appointments can be made by calling our front desk at 970-350-9402.
Parents are welcome to watch lessons from the stands, the downstairs lobby or the upstairs lobby.
Our sessions are 7 weeks long with evaluations the 5th week and testing on the 7th. It is typical for participants to go through a level a few times before passing – this helps us ensure that everyone has a strong foundation to grow.
We encourage our participants to practice as much as possible outside of their classes so we provide each registrant in the Cub program with a punch pass for public skating.
