Skate leagues and skateboarding lessons are offered in partnership with Youth for Christ and The Refuge. Whether you are a first-time skater or a long-time pro, there is a spot for you. Check out more information below on Skateboarding Lessons and Skate League.

Spring Session 2024

Greeley Recreation has teamed up with Youth for Christ and the Refuge Indoor Skatepark, offering both youth skateboarding lessons and leagues this spring.

Skateboarding Lessons

Skateboard lessons are available for youth ages 8-14, at a recreational or intermediate level. Lessons are 6 weeks. Min-2, Max-20.

Session/Dates: March 5 – April 16*
General Registration: January 30 – Until filled (Registration can be done in person at Greeley Recreation Center, Family FunPlex, or online.)
Registration Deadline: by the end of the day on the Friday before the first day
*no lessons on March 11, the week of spring break

Divisions:

Recreational Lesson (beginner): Ages 8-12
Designed for skaters with little to no experience. Skaters will learn the basics of standing on the board, pushing, and turning as they transition into navigating obstacles and performing basic tricks on flat ground, half pipes, and rails.

Days: Tuesday
Time: 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Fee: $45, $10 off the initial price for each additional sibling that registers

Competitive Lesson (intermediate): Ages 8-14
Prior experience is required with recreational level skills. Skaters will broaden their skill set by learning intermediate skills such as, kickflips and power slides, as well as more intermediate halfpipe tricks such as axel stalls, and intermediate grinds and slides.

Days: Tuesday
Time: 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Fee: $45, $10 off the initial price for each additional sibling that registers

Equipment Required:
Skateboard and helmet; these can be rented on site for free. Please notify us at the time of registration if you will need to rent equipment.

Skateboard Leagues

Skateboard leagues are available for youth ages 8-16, at a recreational, intermediate level, or pro level. Leagues are 6 weeks.

Session/Dates: April 23 – May 28 | Tuesday Practices and Thursday Competitions
General Registration: January 30 – Until filled (Registration can be done in person at Greeley Recreation Center, Family FunPlex, or online.)
Registration Deadline: Friday before the first day of each league

Recreational Teams (beginner): Ages 8-12

Professional Teams (advanced): Ages 10-16
Prior experience is required with intermediate level skills. Skaters will continue to expand their skills to the advanced level by learning how to navigate down rails and stairs, variations of prior flat ground tricks, advanced half pipe tricks, and grinds. Max-12.

Days: Practice Tuesday and Competition Thursday
Practice Time: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Competition Time: 6:30-8:30 p.m. (varies depending on the number of teams)
Fee: $65, $10 off the initial price for each additional sibling that registers
