Jack Poland, a 14-year-old boxer and Greeley middle schooler, took home a third-place title at the National Silver Gloves Tournament in Missouri. Poland’s opponent didn’t show up at regionals in California, so he advanced to nationals. On February 1, he won his first bout at nationals, competing in the 145-pound weight class. The following day, he advanced to the second round, fighting three rounds and losing the fight. He placed third in the tournament, which hosted over 600 competitors nationwide.

Poland participates in the City of Greeley Rodarte Community Center Boxing Club, led by head coach Jacob Sanchez and assistant Enrique Garcia
