National Youth Service Day Awards
National Youth Service Day is an annual public awareness and education campaign designed to broaden national, regional, and local recognition of the power of youth service. The purpose of this day is to reinforce to young Americans the importance and excitement of helping others.
History
In 1990, “National Youth Service Day” was created from a union between the Jefferson Awards, the Points of Light Foundation, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and Youth Service America.

The National Youth Service Day Award winner will be honored during the City Council meeting. A commemorative plaque will be presented, as well as a $1,000.00 scholarship funded by the City of Greeley.

Complete the online form below to nominate a local youth for the award. Nominations are due by February 26, 2024, at 5 p.m.
Nomination Criteria
- Nominees must be between 15 and 18 years old.
- Must be a resident of Greeley, and/or volunteer service must have been performed in Greeley.
- Cannot be a member, employee, or immediate family member of the sponsoring groups.
- Past recipient(s) of a National Youth Service Day Award are not eligible.
On the application, there is a 500-word limit per question.
The Greeley Youth Commission award presentation will include a special address by the Mayor of Greeley during a City Council meeting, along with a commemorative plaque that will be given to the winner, in addition, this year, the sole winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Nomination Process
- To nominate a Greeley resident (age 15-18), please complete the form below by February 26, 2024, and submit it by 5 p.m.
- Nomination forms will be emailed directly to [email protected]. For more information, call 970-350-9771.
- Once nominations have been received by the deadline, the Greeley Youth Commission will review applications and determine a winner.
- The individual chosen will be notified in advance.
