The Greeley Active Adult Center is committed to providing a variety of opportunities so being active can be a way of life. Adults aged 50 and above can socialize at the center, whether through trips or while participating in one of our many programs.

We offer a wide array of clubs, sports, SilverSneakers® fitness programs, special events, holiday lunches, ice cream socials, health and safety seminars, and travel opportunities including local and international excursions, lunches with Gabbie Gourmet, sporting events, museums and more.

Disaster Preparedness Training

Take a look at how you can prepare yourself and family for what to do before, during and after a disaster. Weld County Retires Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will offer a 60-90 minute training on disaster preparedness. Marcia will provide an excellent program on developing the critical skills needed to survive an emergency. She is trained by FEMA, the Red Cross and has presented this program throughout Weld County.

Woodshop Required Safety Class 

Do you enjoy woodworking? We have one of the best woodshops in town. Starting in January, this class will be a requirement for those who wish to use the woodshop at the Active Adult Center. The 2-hour course, will focus on the use of tools and equipment as well as general woodshop safety. After passing the class you will have an annual pass to use the woodshop anytime the facility is open to work on your personal projects.

Sketch & Paint Class

This 10-week class is a fun easy way to learn how to draw and paint or to improve your skills. All levels are welcome; student will need to bring their own supplies. Instruction will be given with individual projects at every class.

Nutritional Lunches
We offer lunches on Mondays and Wednesdays at 11:15am. During the summer months we have an evening meal on Tuesdays at 5pm. Please call 970-350-9440 in advance for reservations.
 
Please note – there will be no lunch served on Monday, February 18 (President’s Day) and Monday, May 27 (Memorial Day)

Orientations

A monthly facility orientation will be held for SilverSneakers® participants. The orientation will provide a tour of the facility and an overview of the fitness equipment.

Greeley Active Adult Center - second Monday of each month from 9-10am.
Greeley Recreation Center - by appointment only, call 970-336-4219 to schedule a visit.

 

SilverSneakers® Classic

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a SilverSneakers® ball are offered for resistance. A chair is used for seated exercises and standing support. This class can be adapted depending on fitness level and abilities. It is suitable for beginning and intermediate skill levels. Max-24.

SilverSneakers® Yoga

Get ready to move through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to perform a variety of seated and standing postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. This class is suitable for nearly every fitness level. Max-24.

Satisfy your aqua urge for variety! SilverSplash® offers a lot of fun shallow-water movement to improve agility, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required and a special SilverSneakers® kickboard is used to develop strength, balance and coordination. Max-24.

A higher intensity dance workout class that improves cardio endurance and burns calories. MOVE IT is all about breaking a sweat and having fun. The class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple dance moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout. Max-24.

SilverSneakers® Stability

Stability is the newest class designed to help you become stronger and improve balance. The movements taught in class focus on specific exercises to improve strength and power around the ankle, knee and hip joints, while improving reaction time. This class is designed for fall prevention and suitable for nearly every fitness level. It can be adapted depending on the skill of participants. A chair may be used for balance and support. If you require an assisted mobility and/or balance device at any time, you are required to bring it to class for the safety of you and other class participants. Max-24.

SilverSneakers® CardioFit
