What is Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR)?
Greeley Recreation’s AIR program provides activities and services to individuals in the community who have varying levels of physical or intellectual abilities. We are dedicated to empowering all individuals to participate in recreational programming and activities while becoming part of the City of Greeley Recreation family. AIR program staff are led by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to coordinate programming.
Adaptive Programs
Adaptive programs are specialized programs for individuals who may have disabilities and need adaptive support to participate in activities—for example, sled hockey or adaptive swim lessons. AIR can help provide adaptive solutions for individuals.
- AIR /ADA Assistance Fund: A portion of Greeley’s Youth Assistance Fund provides financial aid to ANY individuals with disabilities at ANY AGE to participate in Greeley Recreation Programs. Complete and return this form to the Greeley Recreation Center, Family FunPlex or Rodarte Community Center to apply.
Inclusion
The AIR program provides support for people to participate in any Greeley Recreation program. AIR can help determine how to most effectively support individuals in recreation programs. Inquiries about what type of accommodations are available should be made at least two weeks before the class begins.
Contact AIR today to work with you to adapt activities and meet your needs.
Unified Sport Leagues
Greeley Recreation offers unified teams for sports like basketball, soccer, and softball. They are teams comprised of players with and without disabilities. These leagues may work with rule additions and changes that allow all players to be supported and make gameplay fair.
Special Olympics
For the competitive athlete, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR) offers Special Olympics sports like basketball, bowling, volleyball, swim team, soccer, track and field, and softball. Programs are geared toward individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
